Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

The win also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He defended 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
